SCG Pavilion won “Pavilion Contest” at BOI FAIR 2011
Dr. Atchaka Sibunruang, BOI Secretary General said that Thailand Board of Investment (BOI) organizes BOI Fair 2011’s Pavilion Contest, inviting exhibitors to join in the pavilion competition. Pavilions with the best "green" concept under the theme of "Going Green for the Future" will be selected by professional judges to be the winner.
The winner is Siam Cement Group Pavilion, 1st runner up: Charoen Pokphand Group Pavilion, 2rd runner up: Nissan Pavilion. Others 6 pavilions are also praised honorable mention included Panasonic Pavilion, Honda Pavilion, PTT Pavilion, Toyota Pavilion, Kubota Pavilion and Hitachi Pavilion
SCG Pavilion is built around the Human Value concept which is committed to creating technologies that meet today’s needs of consumers but also show concern for human value as well as impact on surrounding communities, society, and the environment both for today and tomorrow.
According to the SCG, the Pavilion is divided into three rooms. The first room showcases a futuristic way of life in Bangkok where mankind and nature coexist in a balanced manner. In the second room, visitors get to experience the film projections on a 360 degree, surround screen that gives the illusion of being in an actual situation.
And in the last room, they can experience a futuristic lifestyle through SCG’s innovations. This includes a new design for an accommodation which is suitable for the elderly who lives an independent life. Or a modular home system designed to withstand earthquakes with a maximum of 7.0 on the Richter scale. Visitors are also given the opportunity to experience a simulated earthquake for themselves too.
Another interesting invention is a cement bunker. It is made of special cement which has excellent shock resistance and high resistance to the effects of earthquakes, explosions as well as the impact of sea water on coastline erosion.
A capsule like object called Shield Life is lightweight and can be easily transported. The SCG claims that it is ideal for disaster-hit nations that are in immediate need of temporary shelters. Other interesting innovations in this room also include the Natural Park Zone, the virtual Business
game and Home Mart Mania.
The 1st runner up is CP Pavilion where presents a thematic focus on The Perfect Harmony of Food, Energy & Environment which will draw visitors to an innovative learning experience of integrating the science of agriculture and advanced technology into higher productivity and sustainable development.
The exterior of the pavilion is based on the concept of "Rethink" to create greater awareness and communicate the boundless business potential of CP, from thinking to practice, and especially in terms of job creation and product development with no adverse impact on the environment.
The 2nd runner up is Nissan Pavilion where showcases zero-emission concept cars such as the Pivo. Also highlighted will be the NuVu, an electric car equipped with solar cells
